English polished steel and nickel silver footman trivet with a pierced floral top, pierced gingerbread border skirt, interior wrought iron bars for holding coal and terminating on cabriole legs with stylized penny feet, Mid-19th century. Typically used in the 19th century for ladies boarding into a horse drawn carriage. Today trivet may be used as a decorative piece near fireplace.
