The dish is oval in form with a raised shaped rim decorated with an applied gadrooned band interspersed with ovals and acanthus leaves. The border is engraved, on one side, with a contemporary Armorial and on the other side with a contemporary crest. The dish is very well marked and is engraved with the retailers mark of Makepeace on the reverse. The arms and crest are those of the Waler family of County Devon impaling those of Ormerod of Ormerod, County Lancs. This piece would be ideal for serving a joint of meat and vegetables, as well as for serving canapes.
