Decorative rim lock mechanism made of solid mahogany and brass. The brass hardware is all-original and includes a handle that doubles as a knocker which also turns the key mechanism. The key escutcheon is centered in a heart motif and there are fanciful embellishments on either side. This was purchased years ago from a Norman castle in Ireland. Condition:GoodWear consistent with age and use. It retains the original patina, note tarnish to brass on corner of right sides. (We have chosen not to polish it). The mahogany is very heavy and has some nicks and scratches consistent with the age.
