This is a made-to-order large traditional mahogany dining table made in the Leighton Hall shop. It features a field of slip-matched swirly crotch mahogany from West Africa and satinwood and Santos rosewood borders from South America. The borders are separated by a tulipwood inlay and an ebony or white maple inlay. It has a hand rubbed and polished semi-gloss finish. The pedestals have three fluted legs which terminate with antique brass lions paw feet.

Dimensions: Width: 48 in.; Length: 76 in.; three 22 in. leaves (142 in. total length with all leaves inserted); Height: 30 in.

This table can be purchased as shown, or it can be customized to your desired size and design. We can make you a bench-made, one-of-a-kind table in our shop to your specifications. A Very Large George III Five Pedestal Dining Table, c1780

A rare and important George III five pedestal dining table c1780, with four leaves. The rounded rectangular top of superb timber with reeded edge and tilting action to each pedestal, the vase and ring-turned baluster pillars are raised on quadruple, reeded splayed supports terminating in large brass caps and castors.
Pedestal tables were an innovative design of the late 18th century. This was the beginning of a period of opulent entertaining and long, lavish dining. The pedestal table ensures comfortable seating without having to straddle a leg as well as easy disassembling after dinner to create space for entertaining and dancing. Built in England exclusively for grand estates, tables of this size and quality were few in number. The ravages of time and war have made them extraordinarily rare. World War II produced hardships that facilitated the closing of many of England’s stately homes and frequently large pieces of furniture were remade to suit smaller homes and often during desperate times were cut up and used as firewood for heating and cooking.
This table was purchased in 1930 by an American for a southern plantation and thus helped insure its survival. Family history states it may have been made by Gillows of Lancaster, but we have no direct proof of that, although it certainly has all the qualifications to belong to that select group.
The table is 20.5 feet long x 60” deep x 28.5” high.
The 2 “D” ends are each 29″W.
The other 3 pedestals measure: 2-26.25″W each, and 1-28″W.
The 4 leaves measure: 25″W/26″W/28.5W”/28.5W”.
So the length is actually 246.5″ total.

19th Century English Mahogany Double Pedestal Extending Dining Table

A superb quality English Regency dining table made of solid Cuban flame mahogany supported by two turned pillars/pedestals above four swept legs, terminating on brass casters. Extendable.

The remarkable flame mahogany wood has a beautiful grain and color and has recently been refinished.

Early 19th century English mahogany George III dining room table has one board top, one original removable leaf, terminating on the original turned bulbous ringed pedestals with saber legs and the original brass casters.

The leaf can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion by special brass castors which makes it easy to move when required. It may be possible to customize a second leaf if desired, quotes provided upon request.

18th Century English Oak Gate Leg Table

For sale is a good quality early 19th century double gateleg table. The solid oak top above nicely turned barley twist legs, the two flaps supported by a double gate when open. There are historical signs of shrinkage, though these were repaired professionally sometime during the early part of the last century. This is not detrimental to the piece, though it is testament to its age. Overall, the table is very sturdy, and in good usable condition.

Rare Gillows Lancaster 1789-1795 George III American Walnut Dining Table

We are delighted to offer for sale this sublime fully restored circa 1789-95 Gillows Lancaster George III dining table in American Walnut

A very rare and highly collectable table, fully stamped to the base Gillows Lancaster and with the order number L4953. This table can be used as you see it pictured with the half moons on either end. The five main body pieces are all finished around the edges, as such they can be used as five separate tables, you can add and remove sections as per your needs. The tables can be turned sideways making a 106cm deep and enormous 760cm (25 feet) long table, naturally this way you can’t use the end demi lune leaves

The stamps to the base can accurately be dated using Volume I Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840 page 95 reference archive

The tables has been fully restored, the plan with the restoration was to keep the original patination to the base to show the honest 230+ years of use whilst making the top as presentable as possible. As such you have a glorious timber grain and patination to the mahogany
