Small 1790 British woodcut book plate print on laid paper by John Bewick (1760–1795) England, younger brother of Thomas Bewick. Printed for Proverbs Exemplified and published by the Rev. J. Trusler, and sold at the Literary-Press, 1790. Proverb shows demons among the pigs, was never bound in the book as it lacks the heading “Great Cry, and Little Wool”. Set of Three Hand Colored Copper Wheel Engraved Floral Prints by John Hill c1756. One print signed in the plate, “I Hill.” Published in England and hand colored. From an edition of 60 plates. John Hill was born in 1714an initially was trained as a pharmacist. He worked as a gardener at Kensington Palace and helped with the botanical garden at Kew, which was his inspiration for his floral engravings.

Ichikawa Ebizo V is an original modern artwork realized by Utagawa Hirosada (Japanese, active 1825–75) in 1848. Woodcut Print Chuban format, 1848 from the series “Chuko junigetsu no uchi” (Lore to the loyal vassals in 12 monthly pictures), the 5th month. Half-length portrait with fan of the actor Ichikawa Ebizo V as the samurai Akeshi Mitsuhide and commander of Oda Nobunaga, in the Jidaimono play Ehon Taikoki. Signature Hirosada. Wood engraving. Excellent impression with glossy black printing (staffs of the fan), blind printing (coat of arms), bokashi, backed, a little bit soiled, margins partly cut. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
