Kelsch is a traditional tissue of pure linen or flax mixed with other vegetable fibers. Intended to become bed linen, the Kelsch were traditionally offered to the newlyweds. Family heritage, the most beautiful parts were never used and remained in the polychrome cabinets, kept as precious treasures. This fabric is emblematic of Alsatian artisanal productions (Ried region, Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines valley). It is a fine example of popular art, witness to a past but touching and current era. This large edreddon cover is woven in 2 colors with checkered patterns with pretty variations.

The cover is good, woven white and blue almost black which is quite rare for Kelsch. It dates from the beginning of the 20th century. The back is in ancient linen, sewn by hand. A red cotton -embroidered monogram is visible. Antiwue fabrics can be slightly stained or discolored in places.
