This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver snuffer tray has an oval, serpentine shaped form.
The surface of the tray is embellished with the contemporary engraved initials ‘SHW’ below a Baron’s coronet.
The raised rounded border of the tray is encompassed with a cast and applied scrolling border accented with an array of scrolling leaf motifs to either rounded end.
This antique silver snuffer tray is fitted with an elevate cast volute scroll decorated scrolling handle with a floral decorated thumbpiece and ribbed fingerpiece.
This fine example of antique George IV silverware is supported by four cast sterling silver bracket style feet, each enveloped with further leaf decoration to the lower portion.
This exceptional tray, crafted by the renowned London silversmith William Stroud, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.
Condition
This antique silver snuffer tray is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The cast ornamentation is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the snuffer tray are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
