Antique Darning Sampler, 1791, by Ann Manning. The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Comprises of 15 darning panels, worked in various different techniques and patterns. Colours red, yellow, dark brown, black, green and blue. Signed and dated ‘Ann Manning 1791’. Framed in an old, gilt painted frame with rippled, dimpled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is stitched to acid free card. Frame backed with card and sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.
