Vintage Design
Pair of Nuava model armchairs designed by Emilio Guarnacci and Felix Padovano for 1p industria chemicals for furniture in 1971.
Structure in non-deformable expanded polyurethane, wool and cotton fabric.
The armchairs have been restored, excellent condition.
The Nuava armchairs date back to 1969, in differentiated density polyurethane foam – a project on which Padovano and Guarnacci worked.
This is a project strongly desired by 1P which highlights both the procedural/syntactic talent and the broad spectrum of effectiveness achieved by the design and intellectual skills of Emilio Guarnacci, perfectly at ease in precisely defining the product aimed at environments private subjects of the middle bourgeoisie as well as articles dedicated to the increasingly emerging contract sector. But this double proof of the author also certifies Guarnacci’s commendable empathy towards a furniture company radically different from its contemporaries operating on the national territory.
Over the years, 1P has become one of the most important companies in the sector of vintage Italian design. When it died prematurely in the 70s, the Tuscan company was able to offer the public a wide selection of innovative seats with futuristic shapes, among the most popular projects, in addition to the Pagrù, are the Gena, Duna Rezia armchairs and the very rare Maja model.
All 1P products to date are among the most appreciated and sought after pieces by collectors and designers from all over the world.
